Dr. Mukta is one of the leading practicing MD dermatologists, studied & trained extensively in India & abroad. With two decades of clinical experience in medical, aesthetic & cosmetic dermatology, she has extensive experience in lasers & devices. Presently, she is Head of the Department of Dermatology at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, India.
She also runs a niche boutique dermatology clinic MS Skin Centre in Bangalore along with a team of expert dermatologists.
The MS Skin Centre offers effective, evidence & result-based solutions to patients on a range of medical skin conditions & aesthetic skin procedures. Apart from providing a wide range of medical & aesthetic dermatology solutions, the centre also has access to an expert in cosmetic eye surgeries & to a visiting plastic surgeon for consultations. The MS Skin Centre has recently introduced several new technologies for aesthetic procedures like botox, filler injectables & chemical peels. It is fully equipped with the latest lasers for pigmentation, acne scars, hair removal & hydra-microdermabrasion. The centre also uses specialised imaging & dermascopes to map & record lesions & results as required.
Dr. Mukta serves on the boards of several dermatology & device companies, helping firms define clinical usage guidelines & protocols, determine emergent product needs, define new formulations & determine proof of efficacy. She has led consulting projects for large national & international firms on products as well as devices.
Dr. Mukta has significant research experience & is the medical director of a state-of-the-art dermatology cutaneous research & testing facility. MS Clinical Research (MSCR) has conducted over 300 end-to-end trials for leading international cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical & laser manufacturers. MSCR has won the Stevie Business Award for Female Innovator of the year 2013 & has received the WEConnect International Certification.
Her expertise in understanding skin of colour has led to the conceptualisation of Prescriptive Facials, non-invasive rejuvenating therapies that are customised to suit everyone’s individual skin needs.
Conducting training & workshops to teach dermatology practitioners about new technology & clinical practices is a subject close to Dr. Mukta’s heart. As a global ‘skin of colour’ expert, she regularly lectures at conferences in India & abroad. She regularly conducts workshops & hands-on training sessions for dermatology practitioners globally. Dr. Mukta is a regular speaker & faculty at international seminars & conferences on Dermatology such as the EADV, 5 CC, IMCAS Paris, Asia & China, & at the World Congress of Dermatology, to name a few. She also conducts guest lecture sessions with leading educational institutes, research foundations & hospitals. She has presented on a range of topics, with a focus on skin of colour. Dr. Mukta is a Fellow of AAD – USA & Member of the WDS, ISD, ASLMS, EADV, ESLD & IADVL to name a few. Her extensive academic expertise spans across writing textbooks & contributing numerous chapters in dermatology textbooks, publishing journal articles, & peer reviewer for medical journals.
With extensive retail experience, Dr. Mukta spearheads India’s first expert skin & hair care online boutique store, The Skin Store.
She was also one of the select few to be part of the Women’s Leadership Forum at the prestigious Harvard Business School & has been awarded first prize as part of the International 10000 Women Bangalore Cohort – a Goldman Sachs & Indian School of Business.
From a CSR perspective & as a skin of colour expert, she is now actively involved with several activities in India & internationally, & is focused on making a difference.
